ValidConcept: Areva
After I earned an MBA, I restarted my consulting company to launch ValidConceptSM, a comprehensive suite of research, design, and prototyping services to help product managers prove the business case for new products and enable entrepreneurs to progress from start-up idea to market success.

Problem & Results
Areva (later acquired as Alstom Grid, now GE Grid Solutions) sought to address their new customer’s concerns about the overly-complex user interface to their legacy network management system for electric utilities. I was brought in to show that the client was making a serious effort to improve the user experience.
After eliciting and distilling requirements during international customer workshops, I proposed task automation and simplified control panels to manage their complex workflows. My quick mockups allowed Areva and their customer to come to a common understanding – and eventually sign a multi-million-dollar contract for development.
